Dortmund appoint Ajax Manager BOSZ as new Head Coach

The Bundesliga club have confirmed that the Dutchman will take over following the sacking of Thomas Tuchel, signing a two-year contract
Peter Bosz has left Ajax to take up the role of head coach at Borussia Dortmund, the Bundesliga club have confirmed.
The 53-year-old has signed a two-year contract that will keep him at Signal Iduna Park until June 30, 2019.
In his only season at Ajax, Bosz guided the Amsterdam giants to second place in the Eredivisie and the Europa League final, drawing praise for an exciting brand of football with a young group of players.

The former Vitesse and Maccabi Tel Aviv boss takes over from Thomas Tuchel, whose strained relationship with Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke ultimately cost him his job.
Tuchel led BVB to third in the Bundesliga, holding off the challenge of Hoffenheim to ensure automatic qualification for next season's Champions League.

Credit card fraud: Dammy Krane spends weekend in US jail

For some time now , fans of singer, Oyindamola Johnson Emmanuel , aka Dammy Krane , had been bemoaning his absence from the music scene and were eagerly expecting him to return to the stage with a big bang. This is because Krane came into the industry at about the same time with Wizkid and Davido , and many industry pundits had predicted that the trio would shine in equal proportions . However, while Davido and Wizkid are the biggest artistes in Africa at the moment , Dammy cannot even lay claim to being relevant in the Nigerian music industry . And definitely, this is not the type of comeback his fans were expecting of him .

The dark - skinned singer was reportedly arrested on Friday for grand theft and credit card fraud in the US after he allegedly used stolen credit card details to book a jet for a trip to Miami from a private jet leasing company , Tap Jets . No sooner had the story surfaced online than it was followed by the Amin singer’ s mug shots . He was reportedly arrested in company with another Nigerian, Chukwuebuka Gabriel Ilochonwu.
The charge sheet , which has since gone viral on the Internet , listed Krane ’ s crimes as ‘Grand Theft 3 rd Degree /Armed / Conspiracy/Credit Card Forgery /Intent to Defraud . ’
Sunday Scoop sought to ascertain from insiders close to the embattled singer what the true story is . According to one of Dammy ’s aunties , who lives in the US and who pleaded for her identity to be shielded , he was only a victim of circumstance .

She stated , “ We don ’t stay in the same state over here but Dammy came to visit me just last week . I got the news of his detention on the Internet just like everybody else. After making some calls , I was able to confirm that he was indeed arrested. He has been in the US for some time now and he has regularly been booked for shows all across America . The guy he was arrested with had actually booked him for a show this weekend in Miami . And he ( Chukwuebuka ) was the one that paid for the jet and made hotel reservations with the stolen card details .”
Speaking further , she said , “You know it is a usual thing for show promoters to book flight tickets for artistes , so one cannot blame Dammy in this situation . A lawyer has already been contacted but unfortunately , Dammy would have to stay in jail till Monday when they would be able to go to court to perfect bail conditions .”

However, this is contrary to the prevailing views on social media, with many Nigerians lambasting Krane for trying to live and portray a lifestyle above his means . The singer had recently been posting pictures of himself eating, drinking and dancing on different private jet trips in the US .
Meanwhile, it is not certain what the status of the contract Dammy allegedly has with Davido’ s DMW record label is . Ever since his sign -in to the label was announced last year , Dammy has not released any material and Davido, or any of DMW ’s artistes , haven’ t mentioned Krane or featured him in any of their songs or videos . However, David later took to his Snapchat account on Saturday to post , “ Free Dammy Krane . God ’ s got you.”
Calls put through to Dammy ’s mother were not answered as of the time of filing this report .

Boko Haram kills 21 in Borno

At least 21 persons have been reportedly killed in two separate Boko Haram attacks in villages near Chibok in Borno State.
Chibok Hassan , a Chibok resident, told
TheCable that attacks happened on Sunday and Wednesday .
According to Hassan, the insurgents first struck at Kaya , a village 27 km from Chibok, causing residents to desert their homes.

He said , “ There is no single soul remaining there ( Kaya ) . The Boko Haram members came in the evening with their motorcycles , bicycles and started firing at everyone in sight .
“They burnt many houses . Those who were fortunate ran away, but those who couldn ’ t escape were attacked . All the villagers have moved out of the village .
“People did not hear about the killings because the village is not accessible. It is located inside the bush.”

Hassan said two days after the incident , the attackers returned to a village close to Gumsri, a Borno community , where 14 persons were allegedly killed .
“Within two days, they returned and attacked the next village close to Gumsri which acts as a sort of roadblock between us and Boko Haram .

“As it is , all the villagers in those communities have ran away , they have packed their belongings and come to Chibok. So many attacks and innocent lives have been lost in Damboa LGA but it is usually not reported.
“For us in Chibok, we are living in fear because that it is the only place that has been a roadblock against them. Some people that cannot withstand the situation are even moving to Maiduguri which is safer for them , ” he added .

On whether there are no soldiers on the ground during the attacks, he said the soldiers around found it difficult to get to the place of the attacks “because of the far distance from where they are to the village.”
“Even with the presence of a brigade , the problem the security people face here is that mostly , the communities attacked are under Damboa council but the soldiers are closer to Chibok ,” he added.
The military spokesperson , Sani Usman , did not confirm the report , as calls made to his telephone were not answered and he did not also reply the text message sent.

Zuckerberg to add 3,000 staff to stop suicide, murder on facebook

FACEBOOK founder, Mark Zuckerberg, is not finding recent happenings in Facebook funny. He is also not sitting idle and letting negative acts destroy the platform he created to serve humanity. He has vowed to defend the integrity of his platform.

Over the last few weeks, people have been seen hurting themselves and others on Facebook, either live or through videos. To this, Zuckerberg says, is heartbreaking and he has been reflecting on how to stop these, for a better community.
Zuckerberg has resorted to beefing up the number of administrators on Facebook to 750,000 so as to have enough manpower to review activities on the medium and react appropriately and timely. This means that additional 3,000 people will be added to the already 4,500 administrators handling Facebook affairs at the moment.

This is also as he apologized to Whatsapp users all over the world who experienced a temporary shutdown of the services on Wednesday. WhatsApp, a popular messaging service owned by Facebook Inc, suffered a widespread global outage on Wednesday that lasted for several hours before being resolved.
The apology reads: “Earlier today, WhatsApp users in all parts of the world were unable to access WhatsApp for a few hours. We have now fixed the issue and apologise for the inconvenience.” WhatsApp was down in parts of India, Canada, the United States and Brazil, according to Reuters journalists. It affected people who use the service on Apple Inc’s iOS operating system, Alphabet Inc’s Android and Microsoft Corp’s Windows mobile OS.

In Brazil, where the professional class relies heavily on the messaging service, WhatsApp was down for about two and a half hours. Many users switched to rival system Telegram, which has picked up millions of customers in Brazil after two previous WhatsApp outages resulting from court orders. WhatsApp’s is used by more than 1.2 billion people around the world and is a key tool for communications and commerce in many countries. The service was acquired by Facebook in 2014 for $19 billion.

On Facebook murder and threats, Zuckerberg in a statement, said: “If we’re going to build a safe community, we need to respond quickly. We’re working to make these videos easier to report so we can take the right action sooner – whether that’s responding quickly when someone needs help or taking a post down.
Over the next year, we’ll be adding 3,000 people to our community operations team around the world – on top of the 4,500 we have today – to review the millions of reports we get every week, and improve the process for doing it quickly.

“These reviewers will also help us get better at removing things we don’t allow on Facebook like hate speech and child exploitation. And we’ll keep working with local community groups and law enforcement who are in the best position to help someone if they need it – either because they’re about to harm themselves, or because they’re in danger from someone else”.
He also added that “in addition to investing in more people, we’re also building better tools to keep our community safe. We’re going to make it simpler to report problems to us, faster for our reviewers to determine which posts violate our standards and easier for them to contact law enforcement if someone needs help. As these become available they should help make our community safer”.

He noted that all these measures were because last week, he got a report that someone went Live on the platform to confess he was considering suicide. However, Zuckerber said he and his team immediately reached out to law enforcement, and they were able to prevent him from hurting himself.
He also said that in other cases, they weren’t so fortunate, adding that “no one should be in this situation in the first place, but if they are, then we should build a safe community that gets them the help they need”.

2 Air Peace aircrafts 'collide' in Lagos Airport

The slight collision is coming less than 48 hours after an Aero Contractor aircraft was engulfed in smoke while trying to land at the airport in Lagos.
Two aircrafts belonging to Air Peace reportedly collided while trying to manoeuvre their way around the tarmac of the local terminal of the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos.
The slight collision is coming less than 48 hours after an Aero Contractor aircraft was engulfed in smoke while trying to land at the airport in Lagos.

In a report by Premium Times, the spokesperson for Air Peace, Chris Iwarah , said that the collision occurred around 6.15 a.m. when its B737 aircraft with registration number 5N-BQR had “partial contact” with another B737 aircraft with registration number 5N-BQP.
In his words: “ Although the points of contact of the two aircraft were only slightly impacted, we took the cautious decision to declare them unserviceable to enable proper investigation of the incident, checks and repair by our Engineering and Maintenance Department in line with our high safety standards. ”

Continuing, Iwarah further said: “ There were no passengers on the two aircraft involved in the incident. We have also revised our flight schedule to cater to our esteemed guests on the 14 sectors the two aircraft were scheduled to service today."
However, Sam Adurogboye , the spokesperson of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, has said that the aircrafts didn't collide but merely grazed each other.
In his words: “What happened was that one aircraft was packed. The other aircraft was trying to taxi and the wings of the one coming in touched the wings of the one on ground,” he said.

“If two airplanes collide, they will be on fire. But the two aircraft were both on ground and they have to repair the damage and we have to check them all over again before they can be cleared to return to service,” he reportedly said.

30 football fans electrocuted at viewing centre

The deceased were killed after being electrocuted by a high tension cable that reportedly fell on the viewing centre.
Over 30 people have reportedly lost their lives while watching a football match at a viewing centre in in Calabar, Cross River State.

According to a report by Channels TV, the deceased were killed after being electrocuted by a high tension cable that reportedly fell on the viewing centre.

It was also reported that the football fans, who assembled at the centre to watch a UEFA Europa League quarter-final match between Manchester United and Anderlecht on satellite television, lost their lives when a live electricity cable broke from its mooring and fell on the viewing centre.
There are no official statements regarding the sad occurrence as at the time of publishing.
