2 Air Peace aircrafts 'collide' in Lagos Airport

The slight collision is coming less than 48 hours after an Aero Contractor aircraft was engulfed in smoke while trying to land at the airport in Lagos.
Two aircrafts belonging to Air Peace reportedly collided while trying to manoeuvre their way around the tarmac of the local terminal of the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos.
The slight collision is coming less than 48 hours after an Aero Contractor aircraft was engulfed in smoke while trying to land at the airport in Lagos.

In a report by Premium Times, the spokesperson for Air Peace, Chris Iwarah , said that the collision occurred around 6.15 a.m. when its B737 aircraft with registration number 5N-BQR had “partial contact” with another B737 aircraft with registration number 5N-BQP.
In his words: “ Although the points of contact of the two aircraft were only slightly impacted, we took the cautious decision to declare them unserviceable to enable proper investigation of the incident, checks and repair by our Engineering and Maintenance Department in line with our high safety standards. ”

Continuing, Iwarah further said: “ There were no passengers on the two aircraft involved in the incident. We have also revised our flight schedule to cater to our esteemed guests on the 14 sectors the two aircraft were scheduled to service today."
However, Sam Adurogboye , the spokesperson of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, has said that the aircrafts didn't collide but merely grazed each other.
In his words: “What happened was that one aircraft was packed. The other aircraft was trying to taxi and the wings of the one coming in touched the wings of the one on ground,” he said.

“If two airplanes collide, they will be on fire. But the two aircraft were both on ground and they have to repair the damage and we have to check them all over again before they can be cleared to return to service,” he reportedly said.

No mercy for Messi as Juventus knock Barcelona out of Champions League

Barcelona failed to produce another miraculous Champions League comeback as Juventus held out for a 0-0 draw at the Camp Nou on Wednesday to reach the semi-finals 3-0 on aggregate.
The Spanish champions had overcome a 4-0 first leg deficit against Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16 with a dramatic 6-1 win back on home soil.

But Juventus showed why they boast the best defensive record in the competition as Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar were blunted as the Italians gained revenge for their defeat in the 2015 Champions League final.
Juventus join holders Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Monaco in Friday’s semi-final draw.
Straight from kick-off the visitors seemed determined to learn from the French champions’ mistakes.

Massimiliano Allegri’s men pressed high to prevent Barca dominating possession and enjoyed the better of the early chances.
Former Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain volleyed over from the edge of the area before only a brilliant challenge from Gerard Pique prevented Juan Cuadrado’s cross providing Higuain with a tap in.
Barca had to wait 19 minutes for their first clear sight of goal as they intricately worked the ball around a packed Juventus box before Messi fired inches wide.

Messi then Gianluigi Buffon’s palms for the first time on the half hour mark.
At the other end, Higuain threatened again when he just couldn’t get enough power on Miralem Pjanic’s dinked cross to beat Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
Neymar had been Barca’s hero in a remarkable finish with two goals and an assist in the final minutes against PSG.
Yet, he found it far harder up against friend and former Barca teammate Dani Alves and his frustrations at a perceived lack of protection from referee Bjorn Kuipers spilled over as he was booked just before half-time.

Juventus also had the first big chance of the second half as Cuadrado fired across Ter Stegen but wide of the far post.
Ter Stegen was then forced to turn behind another driven effort from the Colombian.
Messi was being forced to come deep in search of possession, but he briefly had Juventus hearts in mouths with a low effort that was deflected inches wide.
Barca boss Luis Enrique forlornly turned to Paco Alcacer from the bench as the hosts played with four forwards for the final half hour.

Messi had another big chance after a rare Buffon handling error from a corner, but unfortunately for Barca it fell on his right foot and the Argentine fired well over.
Sergi Roberto was Barca’s unlikely hero with the 95th minute goal that sealed the 6-1 win over PSG six weeks ago.
He nearly delivered another important and rare goal, but when the right-back’s effort flew inches wide 20 minutes from time so did Barcelona’s hopes.

Juventus comfortably saw out the final stages to register their eighth clean sheet in 10 Champions League games this season.
And the only negative news of the night for the Bianconeri was a yellow card for Sami Khedira that will rule the German international out of the first leg of their semi-final.

ASUU calls for JAMB registrar’s resignation

FOLLOWING alleged lopsidedness in the on-going registration of candidates by Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, the Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU) University of Ibadan Chapter, Dr Deji Omole has called on the Registrar of JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede to voluntarily resign from office.
The academic union also asked the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu to call the registrar to order to lessen the difficulty being experienced by the candidates.

Dr Omole said the board had outlived its usefulness and the best thing is to scrap it and allow universities design their standard examination for  their own candidates.
He noted that the fact that a mock examination was stopped due to logistic reasons underscored the point of alleged incompetence of the Registrar, noting that if candidates could not do mock how sure are they to pass the examination.
He said: “Why will anybody make life difficult for candidates whose parents are struggling to live under the terrible condition the government has made them to live in?”

“Why would somebody introduce changes that are only known by members of the board? We have made case for the scrapping of this body because in the present instance the introduction of different registration procedures has turned candidates to victims of fraud.”while different centres now make business by arranging with private schools who bring all their students in group to come and register while children of the masses look on.”
“This is a failed approach to change and the Registrar admitted this with the cancellation of the mock examination.

How can we ensure that the candidates prepare well for the exams when they spend weeks waiting for Personal Identification Number and are at the mercy of registration officers who force them to go to cybercafe where they have arrangements to first create their profile before they can have their PIN”
“This is where people are duping Nigerian children. This is a total failure. Students must have at least three months for registration, its procedure must be open and their options to public universities must not be limited to serve the agenda of the proprietors of private universities”, he argued.

RONALDO AND THE REFEREES THE HEROES FOR MADRID IN BAYERN EPIC

The Portuguese scored the goals that saw Los Blancos through at the Santiago Bernabeu, but they had a big helping hand from the officials on Tuesday
Cristiano Ronaldo was the hero once again. Just as he did in the last eight here against Wolfsburg a year ago, the Portuguese hit a hat-trick against another German team, this time Bayern Munich, to send Real Madrid into the Champions League semi-finals.
The prolific Portuguese will take the plaudits and dominate the headlines, while the defending champions advance with what looked like a commanding victory in the end as they beat Bayern 6-3 on aggregate. But there was much more to it than that.

After a goalless first half with chances for both teams, Carlo Ancelotti's side levelled the tie at 2-2 from the penalty spot after Casemiro was adjudged to have fouled Arjen Robben. Robert Lewandowski scored it, but the Brazilian midfielder had already been booked and was extremely fortunate to stay on the pitch.
Casemiro could have been booked later on for diving as well, but also got away with that. Bayern's Arturo Vidal was less fortunate, however, and was shown a second Yellow.

At that point, the tie was level at 3-3 and Bayern were on top after Sergio Ramos' own goal had brought the Germans very much back in it by cancelling out Ronaldo's earlier header. And it was a dreadful decision because Vidal had beaten Marco Asensio to the ball fairly and squarely. It was not even a foul.

So Bayern were down to 10 when it should have been Madrid playing with a numerical disadvantage. There was much more to come as well because when Ronaldo made it 4-3 on aggregate in extra time, he had clearly been offside. And when he added another after Ata remarkable run by Marcelo, again he was in an illegal position.

"We can say many great things about Ronaldo," Italy legend Paolo Rossi said on Mediaset Premium . "We already knew that he is a great champion but the result tonight was completely falsified by certain incidents. There were four major episodes and all four went in favour of Real Madrid.

He was right on both points. Ronaldo is a great player and the Portuguese is so often the difference at this level. But there is no doubt that on this occasion, Madrid had the benefit of the decisions on a night when they so easily could have exited the continental competition.

"Why do we not have technology in football?" former Bayern and England midfielder Owen Hargreaves said on BT Sport . "It is unacceptable. To have that many decisions go wrong in a game of this magnitude. This game was decided by the referees."
It was and technology in football does exist, of course. It was utilised in the Club World Cup last December when Ronaldo also scored a hat-trick in an extra-time win (over Japanese side Kashima Antlers) and again in the recent friendly between Spain and France. But not, strangely, in the Champions League.

"We played against the best team in the tournament this year but we scored six goals and they only scored three, so we deserved to go through," Zidane said after the game when asked if the better side had lost.
Madrid may have gone through anyway, of course, but the competition's most successful side surely do not need such favours and while Ronaldo and Real will be jubilant, Bayern can feel extremely hard done by after a hugely controversial night in Madrid on Tuesday

Easter Rabbits & Eggs?

The Easter Bunny  has its origins in European folklore but is now a figure and symbol of Eas✝er. It is depicted as a rabbit bringing Easter eggs. Similar to Santa Claus or the Christkind, the Easter Bunny carries coloured eggs, candy, and sometimes also toys in his basket to the homes of children. The "Easter Hare"  originally played the role of a judge and decided whether children were good or bad in behaviour at the start of the Eastertide season.

In medieval times, it was believed that the hare  was a hermaphrodite and could reproduce without losing its virginity. It was likened to Mary who was a virgin even though she was pregnant with Jesus. As for Easter eggs, Orthodox churches abstained  from eggs during the fast of Lent. They would have to boil or roast them to keep them from getting spoiled  and would eat them to break the fast on Easter, and so the tradition continues.

North Korea launches missile despite US tensions

North Korea launched a missile early on Sunday, but it reportedly "blew up almost immediately" on take off, according to the US military.
The reported test launch came a day after North Korea held a massive military parade in its capital, Pyongyang, marking the birth anniversary of the state founder, where what appeared to be new ballistic missiles were displayed.
The attempted blast off near Sinpo, on North Korea's east coast, is believed to have failed shortly after launch, South Korean and US officials said.

"The North attempted to launch an unidentified missile from near the Sinpo region this morning but it is suspected to have failed," the South's Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement.
There were no further details, and the office said it was analysing the launch.
The US Pacific Command detected and tracked what it assessed to be a North Korean ballistic missile launch early on Sunday, said Navy Commander Dave Benham, a military spokesman.
"The missile blew up almost immediately," Benham said. "The type of missile is still being assessed."
Citing the military parade and the launch of the missile, South Korea's foreign ministry said in a statement that the North's combined show of force "threatened the whole world".

Easter: World Celebrates the Resurrection Morning

Easter also called Pascha ( Greek,
Latin ) or Resurrection Sunday , is a festival and holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day of his burial after his crucifixion by the Romans at Calvary c. 30 AD. It is the culmination of the Passion of Jesus, preceded by Lent (or
Great Lent ), a forty-day period of fasting, prayer, and penance .

Most Christians refer to the week before Easter as "Holy Week "—it contains the days of the
Easter Triduum, including Maundy Thursday , commemorating the Maundy and Last Supper, as well as Good Friday , commemorating the
crucifixion and death of Jesus . In Western Christianity , Eastertide, or the Easter Season, begins on Easter Sunday and lasts seven weeks, ending with the coming of the fiftieth day,
Pentecost Sunday. In Eastern Christianity , the season of Pascha begins on Pascha and ends with the coming of the fortieth day, the Feast of the Ascension .

Easter and the holidays that are related to it are
moveable feasts which do not fall on a fixed date in the Gregorian or Julian calendars which follow only the cycle of the sun; rather, its date is determined on a lunisolar calendar similar to the
Hebrew calendar . The First Council of Nicaea (325) established two rules, independence of the Jewish calendar and worldwide uniformity, which were the only rules for Easter explicitly laid down by the council. The President of the NGO, Dele Ologun, said the gesture was part of his efforts  to invest in youth empowerment and education.
Ologun said the beneficiaries were selected from Iju, Itaogbolu, Ogbese, Oba-Ile and other towns of Akure North without political bias, noting that education remains the best legacy anyone can give to youths.

“DOF is an independent private organisation that is committed to assisting the less privileged in capacity building and economic development,” he stated.

Dybala stars as Juve stun Barcelona

Argentina forward Paulo Dybala scored a delightful first-half double to eclipse his illustrious compatriot Lionel Messi as Juventus recorded a stunning 3-0 win over Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.
Dybala netted twice before the midway point in the first half and Giorgio Chiellini added the third goal early in the second half in Turin to leave Juve in control of the tie ahead of next Wednesday’s return at the Camp Nou.

Having made history when they overturned a 4-0 first-leg deficit against Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16 by winning the return 6-1, Barcelona will need another stunning comeback if they are to reach the last four.
Juventus last met the Spanish giants when they lost 3-1 in the 2015 final, but here they ran Luis Enrique’s men ragged and nullified the visitors’ front three of Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez.

A Sami Khedira effort in the opening minutes went well over, but it was a sign of things to come in a great opening half for the hosts that saw 23-year-old Dybala sparkle.
Juve’s seventh-minute opener was a work of simplicity finished off by a Dybala master stroke.
Juan Cuadrado was the provider on the right flank, setting up Dybala who turned 12 yards out and curled a left-footed shot inside the far post, beyond the outstretched hand of goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

It took Barca until 21 minutes to threaten, but Gianluigi Buffon denied Andres Iniesta after he had been picked out by a superb Messi pass.
Buffon pumped his fist in defiance, and he was pumping both in celebration moments later when Dybala met Mario Mandzukic’s ball in from the left to sweep a first-time shot inside Ter Stegen’s near post to make it 2-0.
Messi had the ball in the net on the half hour, but the goal was disallowed for an earlier infringement, and Juve finished the opening half with a flurry.

Miralem Pjanic fired Cudrado’s cutback high and wide, while Higuain and Leonardo Bonucci both had Ter Stegen scrambling to save in the final minutes of the half.
Barcelona coach Luis Enrique took off French left-back Jeremy Mathieu and brought on Portuguese midfielder Andre Gomes at half-time, moving Javier Mascherano back into defence.

The visitors briefly showed promise, with Suarez firing just wide of Buffon’s outstretched hand, but Juve went further ahead on 55 minutes.
Chiellini, famously bitten by Suarez when Italy played Uruguay at the 2014 World Cup, held off Mascherano at a corner to send an angled header in off the far post.
It was his second goal in the competition and first since October 2009 when his header secured the points against Maccabi Haifa in Turin.

Suarez fired just wide again midway through the second half and Chiellini was lucky not to concede a penalty when both he and Cuadrado dived low to thwart a shot which came off the defender’s face then rolled up his arm.
Barca continued to press but could not get the away goal that would have improved their chances ahead of the second leg.

Trump to sell attack planes to Nigeria

The United State is said to be ready to sell high-tech aircraft to Nigeria for its campaign against Boko Haram Islamic extremists.
The Congress according to thewillnigeria.com is expected to receive formal notification setting in motion a deal with Nigeria which the Obama administration had planned to approve at the very end of Barack Obama’s presidency.
The arrangement will call for Nigeria to purchase up to 12 Embraer A-29 Super Tucano aircraft with sophisticated targeting gear for nearly $600 million, one of the officials said.

The officials were not authorized to discuss the terms of the sale publicly and requested anonymity to speak about internal diplomatic conversations.
Though President Donald Trump has made clear his intention to approve the sale of the aircraft, the National Security Council is still working on the issue. Military sales to several other countries are also expected to be approved but are caught up in an ongoing White House review. Nigeria has been trying to buy the aircraft since 2015.

Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, said last week that he supported the A-29 deal to Nigeria as well as the sale of U.S.-made fighter jets to Bahrain that had been stripped of human rights caveats imposed by the Obama administration.
Under Obama, the U.S. said Bahrain failed to make promised political and human rights reforms after its Sunni-ruled government crushed Arab Spring protests five years ago.

“We need to deal with human rights issues, but not on weapons sales,” Corker said.
The State Department said in a 2016 report that the Nigerian government has taken “few steps to investigate or prosecute officials who committed violations, whether in the security forces or elsewhere in the government, and impunity remained widespread at all levels of government.”
Amnesty International has accused Nigeria’s military of war crimes and crimes against humanity in the extrajudicial killings of an estimated 8,000 Boko Haram suspects. President Muhammadu Buhari promised to investigate the alleged abuses after he won office in March 2015, but no soldier has been prosecuted and thousands of people remain in illegal military detention. Nigeria’s military has denied the allegations.

The A-29 sale would improve the U.S. relationship with Nigeria, Africa’s largest consumer market of 170 million people, the continent’s biggest economy and its second-largest oil producer. Nigeria also is strategically located on the edge of the Sahel, the largely lawless semi-desert region bridging north and sub-Saharan Africa where experts warn Islamic extremists like the Nigeria-based Boko Haram may expand their reach.
The aircraft deal also would satisfy Trump’s priorities to support nations fighting Islamic uprisings, boost U.S. manufacturing and create high-wage jobs at home. The A-29 aircraft, which allow pilots to pinpoint targets at night, are assembled in Jacksonville, Florida.

“It’s hard to argue that any country in Africa is more important than Nigeria for the geopolitical and other strategic interests of the U.S.,” said J. Peter Pham, vice president of the Atlantic Council in Washington and head of its Africa Center.
Once Congress is officially notified of the sale, lawmakers who want to derail it have 30 days to pass veto-proof legislation. That’s a high hurdle given Corker’s support. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., chairman of the Armed Services Committee, also said he backs the sale.
“We’ve really got to try to do what we can to contain them,” McCain said of Boko Haram

EFCC uncovers another N250m cash haul from Balogun market

A few days after seizing a huge cash from a plaza in Lagos, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, on Monday uncovered another N250 million from the popular Balogun Market still in Lagos.
But just like the previous haul last week, the owner of the cash could not be identified.

The discover of the huge cash according to a statement by the EFCC’s Spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, followed a tipoff by a whistle blower, whose information forced operatives to swoop on the market.
The cash, which belongs to an unnamed top official from one of the northern states, was to be changed into foreign currencies in the market in Lagos.
The breakdown of the money, which is worth N250 million at the current parallel market rate of N306 to the Dollar, was given by the anti-graft agencies as follows: €547,730, £21,090 and N5,648,500 .

Uwujaren said: “The intercept followed information that about N250 million cash was being moved somewhere in the market for conversion into foreign currencies by unnamed persons.
“Operatives responded timely, met the money in Bureau de Change office, but a large chunk of it had been converted into Euro and Pounds sterling.

“The BDC operators found in possession of the monies claimed they were acting on behalf of their boss who sent the money to them from one of the Northern states in Nigeria.
“Two persons apprehended in the course of the raid are helping the commission in its investigation.

Spanish La Liga: Malaga stun FC Barcelona 2-0

FC Barcelona lost further ground on Real Madrid at the top of La Liga after a shock 2-0 loss to Malaga on Saturday.
Neymar was sent off for FC Barcelona as they lost, and they failed in their bid to go level on points with La Liga leaders Real Madrid.
The current Spanish champions were given a boost by the result, after Real’s 1-1 draw with city rivals Athletico earlier.
However, a first-half strike from ex-FC Barcelona forward Sandro Ramirez and a late effort from Jony Rodriguez ended their hopes.
Forward Neymar, who had with 15 goals for Barca this season in all competitions, was sent off in the 65th minute after receiving a second yellow card.
The red card was Neymar’s first of his FC Barcelona career for two bookable offences as the Catalans were left to rue letting Sandro Ramirez join Malaga for free last summer.

The Brazil international had brought down Diego Llorente with a late challenge, and then sarcastically applauded as he made his way off the pitch.
Malaga, who began the match in 15th spot, looked far more threatening, especially on the counter-attack.
Sandro exposed some awful defending from Jeremy Mathieu to sprint clear on goal and slot past MarcAndre ter Stegen at his near post in the 32nd minute to give Malaga the lead.
In the second half they had a goal disallowed when Adalberto Penaranda was wrongly flagged offside before they finally scored their second.
Pablo Fornals’ square ball found Rodriguez, who slotted in from 10 yards out.
Barca barely troubled Malaga keeper Carlos Kameni, although the Cameroon international did make two good saves to block two firm efforts from Luis Suarez.
The defeat means FC Barcelona remain on 69 points, three behind Real who have a game in hand.
Their next league game is against Real Sociedad on April 15, before what promises to be a season-defining El Clasico at the Bernabeu on April 23.

Oscarlilsaint Blog Creating awareness for Meningitis

What is Meningitis
Meningitis is a relatively rare infection that affects the delicate membranes -- called meninges (men-in'-jeez) -- that cover the brain and spinal cord. Bacterial meningitis can be deadly and contagious among people in close contact.
Viral meningitis tends to be less severe and most people recover completely without specific therapy.

Fungal meningitis is a rare form of meningitis and generally occurs only in people with weakened immune systems.

What Causes Meningitis
Meningitis is almost always caused by a bacterial or viral infection that began elsewhere in the body, such as in the ears, sinuses , or upper respiratory tract. Less common causes of meningitis include fungal infection, syphilis, tuberculosis, autoimmune disorders, and medications.

Preventing Meningitis
There are four vaccines are available to prevent bacterial meningitis. If not previously vaccinated, teens entering high school or entering college (and who will be living in a dormitory) should be vaccinated.
The doctor may suggest other steps to prevent meningitis:
Antibiotics , if you've come into close contact with someone who has had some kinds of bacterial meningitis
Other vaccines
Good hygiene, such as regular hand washing
Not sharing food, drinks, or utensils.

Explosion at Egyptian church during Palm Sunday service kills 21, injures dozens

At least 21 people were killed by an explosion at a Coptic Christian church in northern Egypt during a service to celebrate Palm Sunday, state television reported.

An additional 50 others were wounded in the blast at St. George (Mar Girgis) Coptic church in Tanta, it said. Palm Sunday is the Sunday before Easter, and marks the start of Holy Week for Christians.

Copts face persecution and discrimination that has spiked since the toppling of Hosni Mubarak's regime in 2011. Dozens have been killed in sectarian clashes. In December, an attack at a Coptic church in Cairo killed 25 people.

Why Drake was absent in singer’s ‘Come closer’ video

Wizkid has supplied a reason for why Drake didn't show up for his new video shoot.

Wizkid has revealed the reason why Drake was absent in his new video for ‘Come Closer’.
The Nigerian singer has released the visual for his collaboration with the US rapper – ‘Come Closer’.

The video was directed by Dapo ‘DAPS’ Fabenle, and Drake was conspicuously absent.
And as fans continue to wonder why, and inquire on social media, Wizkid has responded. In 2016, the singer was absent during Drake’s video shoot for ‘One Dance’, and failed to make the final cut. And according to some section of fans, it was payback time.
Wizkid has responded. Replying a fan, he said: “Had a family emergency during ‘One Dance’ video shoot, and Drake was on tour when we did ‘Come Closer’. No bad blood, one love still” He tweeted.

Came into the game, no one replace me/Mi love mine and she straight with no chaser/I love my guys, know mi all about mi paper/Mi got mi girls all around me, mi no chaser, yah/Starboy, call me number one/When mi tune drop, the girls, they bounce along/Mi no like nothing come between me and mi paper/So when mi come inna di place, mi undertaker,” he rhymes.

Drake’s absence was clearly obvious as his verse had no one to mime it., except Wizkid, who handled it admirably. “Too mix up in drama to go outside/Too mix up in drama to free my mind/Jealous people around me, I need to change my life/I just turn colder every time I try/What would I do without you, my chargi?/I don’t feel that way with anybody/Tell me your secrets, I’m not messy/Steady it for me, girl, hold steady,” Drakes spits.
Drake has a history of not showing up in videos. He did it to Future with "Tony Montana," Migos with "Versace," and Fetty Wap with the "My Way" remix. He hopped on all those songs and refused to show up to shoot the respective videos. Wizkid is just the latest.
Wizkid is signed to RCA Records, a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment. He is expected to drop his third studio album this year.
