Oscar Launches the social plus + on web

Today, Oscar launched the all awaiting social plus "web version". As a result of his long awaited project, He promises to release the Android version as soon as possible.
In colaboration with German web guru Gerd  V. Thompson, the social network was a grade uplifting project with the following link.   www.oscarlilsaint.yooco.org

Plane crash today in Kaduna

A plane belonging to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) air
crashed Saturday morning at the old Nigeria Defense
Academy (NDA) in Kaduna also known as Ribadu
Cantonment.
At least seven persons are reported dead in crash.
Those on board the flight which crashed at about 6:47am
included the pilot, co-pilot, two engineers and three
passengers.

Rihanna seems to be settling for Lewis Hamilton.
According to E! News:
The singer has been linked to both Formula One race car driver Lewis Hamilton and Real Madrid soccer player Karim Benzema, but E! News learns that the romance between RiRi and Lewis is heating up.
'Rihanna and Lewis had a nice little getaway last weekend in Barbados. Rihanna also spent time with her friends and family but Lewis was the only romantic interest on her mind,' a source tells E! News.
'They had lots of fun together around the island and also got some private romantic time.'

In a strange twist of events, 5 Star Music came out to deny his death reports and said Skibii was responding to treatment. The sudden revelation that Skiibii is still alive has led many to believe that it was a publicity stunt all along.

Bristow: Crashed Helicopter black box, Corkpit Voice Recorder found

After two days of frantic search, the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) announced today, August 14, that it is in possession of the recorders.

Full investigation into the Bristow Helicopter which crashed in Oworonshoki area of Lagos on Wednesday, August 12, has begun following recovery of then Flight Data Recorder and  Corkpit Voice Recorder popularly known as Black Boxes
After two days of frantic search, the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) announced today, August 14, that it is in possession of the recorders.
Head,Public Affairs, AIB, Tunji Oketunbi made this announcement.
He said, “the Accident Investigation Bureau announced today(Friday)  that the flight recorders, popularly known as black boxes, to the Sikosky 76 helicopter that crashed into the lagoon in Oworonshoki area of Lagos on Wednesday 12 August, 2015 have been recovered.”
He added that “The Sikosky 76 helicopter marked 5N-BGD and operated by Bristow Helicopters was believed to have departed SEDCO oil platform offshore and crashed shortly before landing at Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.”
“The search party led by Julius Berger with the assistance of a hired diver located the recorders, which are expected to assist the investigators in unraveling the cause of the accident in which four passengers and two crew members were fatally injured. Six other passengers are receiving treatment at a private hospital.”
“The Flight Data Recorder (FDR) contains data generated from different parts of the aircraft including the engines and the avionics while the Cockpit Voice Recorder will unveil conversations within the cockpit and between the pilots and the Control Tower.”
“The biggest part of the wreckage of the ill fated aircraft was recovered yesterday but without the black boxes. The search was resumed today (Friday). “
The investigation team also said that investigation has extended to retrieving documents and other materials from Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) and the airline operator.

South African athlete Oscar Pistorius will be released on parole on Aug. 21 after serving 10 months of a five-year sentence for culpable homicide of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, authorities said.
The Olympic and Paralympic track star is behind bars in the capital, Pretoria, after being convicted in October after a seven-month trial.
The release of Pistorius, whose lower legs were amputated when he was a baby, had been largely expected under South African sentencing guidelines that say non-dangerous prisoners should spend only one-sixth of a custodial sentence behind bars.
A prison service statement said Pistorius would spend the remainder of his time under "correctional supervision", a form of house arrest.
Steenkamp, a 29-year-old law graduate and model, died on Valentine's Day in 2013 when Pistorius shot her through a locked toilet door at his luxury Pretoria home.

Prosecutors had pushed for a murder conviction, but the athlete maintained he fired in the mistaken belief an intruder was hiding behind the door, a defence that struck home with many in a country with one of the world's highest rates of violent crime.
The state won its bid to appeal the culpable homicide conviction and will seek a murder conviction when the case is heard in November.
Pistorius could face a prison sentence of at least 15 years if convicted of murder.

Computer based tests discriminate against rural students who have had little experience with computers, says University of Jos(UNIJOS) don, James Bature.
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) in Kaduna on Wednesday, Bature said the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) introduction of the computer-based test (CBT) mode in the admission process cheats out rural students.
He argued that most of the students from rural communities have no computer proficiency and are thus at a disadvantage through no fault of theirs.
"These students tried so hard to get the required number of credits for admission into tertiary institutions, and they are now compelled to write JAMB and post-UTME using computer," Bature said.
"Most of these children never saw a computer throughout their primary and secondary school education, but they are now subjected to compete with other children that use computers as toys.
"We are talking about building an egalitarian society, but structurally we are scheming the rural population out of the process."
The don noted that the admission process must be modified to take in the differences in computer proficiency.
"If we really meant to carry everybody along, then the government must incorporate local circumstances to admission process.
“Otherwise, some people will be completely excluded from the having access to tertiary education."
"Government must intervene in the admission process, by making it less expensive, less cumbersome and less sophisticated."
The 2015 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) is the first time that JAMB conducted its examination in the full CBT mode.

    An airline has taken a controversial decision to weigh people before allowing them to board a plane.
    Uzbekistan Airways has announced that all passengers will have to stand on weighing machines with their personal luggage after they have checked in.
    The company, who are based in Tashkent, have promised not to reveal the weight of individual passengers. But it will mean some overweight people could be excluded from busy flights on smaller planes if limits are exceeded.
    The company said they needed to know the weights of both people and their luggage because it was important, especially with smaller planes.
    In a statement they said: 'Uzbekistan Airways airline is carrying out the procedure of pre-flight weighing in order to determine the average weight of passengers with hand luggage.
    'According to the laws of the International Air Transport Association, airlines are obliged to carry out regular procedures of pre-flight control such as weighing passengers with hand luggage in order to observe the requirements for ensuring flight safety.
    'After passing check-in on a flight and prior to boarding into the aircraft, we will ask you to pass the weighing procedure with a special weighing machine placed in the departure gate zone.
    'The weighing record will only contain the corresponding passenger category (i.e. male/ female/ children). As for the rest, the full confidentiality of results is guaranteed.
    'We appreciate your assistance and thank you in advance for the help in the solution of our common task of flight safety.'
    Samoan Air became the world's first airline to charge passengers according to their weight in 2013. This helped manage its on-board weight effectively and enabled costing plans to be more streamlined.
    Under the pay-by-weight system passengers input their weight into the online booking section of the Samoa Air website.
    Passengers can also add their baggage weight on - there are no separate fees because of excess baggage.
    Samoa Air flies domestically and to American Samoa - it is thought the move could encourage other airlines to introduce similar policies.

    A Nigerian citizen accused of receiving weapons training fromal Qaeda's Yemeni affiliate and writing rap lyrics, among other contributions, for the group's English-language media operations was sentenced on Wednesday to 22 years in U.S.prison, authorities said.
    Lawal Babafemi, 35, was sentenced by U.S. District JudgeJohn Gleeson in Brooklyn after pleading guilty in April 2014 to providing material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization, al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.
    Prosecutors had sought up to 30 years in prison for Babafemi, who was extradited from Nigeria in 2013 after being arrested several times two years earlier on local terrorism charges.
    Babafemi's court-appointed lawyer in Brooklyn was not immediately available for comment on Wednesday afternoon.
    Prosecutors said that from January 2010 to August 2011, Babafemi traveled from Nigeria to Yemen twice to meet with leaders of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, known as AQAP.
    During his time with that group, Babafemi, who went by the name "Ayatollah Mustapha," worked on AQAP's media operations, including its magazine "Inspire," prosecutors said.
    He and two other individuals including a Vietnamese man named Minh Quang Pham contributed writing and editing, prosecutors said, and Babafemi became close with Samir Khan, a U.S. citizen who was Inspire's editor.
    Together, the men appeared in the magazine in a photograph, wearing camouflage and holding rifles, authorities say.
    After Khan and Pham had the idea of recording rap songs as AQAP propaganda, Babafemi began writing lyrics about jihad, prosecutors said.
    The group's leadership, including Anwar al-Awlaki, paid Babafemi almost $9,000 to recruit English speakers from Nigeria, prosecutors said.
    Khan and Awlaki, a U.S. citizen born in New Mexico, were killed in U.S. drone strikes in Yemen in 2011. Pham was extradited to the United States in March and is awaiting trial.
